Seafret

Seafret continue their quietly powerful return with “Driftwood,” a deeply affecting new single that captures the emotional core of their fourth album, Fear of Emotion. Written alongside James Morrison, who is featured on the song, the track began as what the band describes as an “end of the world” song, grappling with the helplessness that comes from witnessing global suffering and unrest. But instead of giving in to despair, “Driftwood” gently shifts perspective, becoming a tender reminder to hold close the people who matter most. Built on the duo’s signature blend of intimate lyricism and cinematic swell, the song drifts between fragility and quiet strength, offering a sense of comfort without losing its emotional weight. Taken from Fear of Emotion, the band’s fourth studio album, “Driftwood” arrives as a companion to the BBC Radio 2-supported “Signal Fire,” further revealing a project shaped by reconnection and creative freedom. Produced by longtime collaborator Steve Robson, the album finds Jack Sedman and Harry Draper pushing their sound while staying true to the honesty that has defined their journey. With additional collaborations from KT Tunstall and Katie Gregson-MacLeod, and a European tour set for May, Seafret are stepping into this new era with clarity and purpose.
